Finding the right cigar for you is always an exciting adventure. But finding those rare gems? That could be a tad bit exhausting and frustrating. These “unicorns” of the cigar industry may be so hard to find because they’re collected privately and remain in the small circles of the cigar industry.
The Leon Jimenes Robusto cigar is completely handmade long filler
comes from the Dominican Republic and has a binder and the insert
tobacco from the Dominican Republic and is a cigar with aromas of
cinnamon and cedar wood, with a mild strength. A great mild
cigar, which makes every evening superb.
Packaged in Cedar Chests of 20, the Magic Mountain is one of the
most noted sizes in the Maria Mancini line. This visually
stunning Figurado features the famous H2000 wrapper covering a
Honduran binder and aged filler tobaccos from Nicaragua. Bursting
with rich, earthy Cuban style flavor, this reasonably priced gem
is one of the best bargains in the whole, wide cigar world!
McFly, named after Marty McFly, consists of a Mexican wrapper
over a Honduran binder and tri-country blend of long-fillers from
the Dominican, Honduras, and Nicaragua. The blend comes together
got notes of nuts and cedar with floral hints and a subtle
sweetness.
This “smooth operator” is a dynamo that I can barely keep in
stock. In fact I’ve got tons of customers who order nothing but
this cigar. It’s easy to see why. MISTAKES give you premium
flavor and terrific construction at a bargain price. They’re
super-smooth, nice and mellow, made in a top-notch factory, and
darn cheap. A beauty that’s simply a great everyday cigar. Have I
mentioned how inexpensive they are? Made in the Dominican for us
exclusively, MISTAKES are gorgeous cigars rolled with
Connecticut-shade wrappers and Dominican mixed fillers. Trust me,
if you like pleasant, smooth, well-constructed cigars with a
perfect draw....not to mention a cheap every day price, then this
one’s for you. Overall it’s an extraordinarily compelling cigar
for the money.
The Nicaragua Cream Churchill (7.0” x 50) is all Nicaraguan on
the inside with both long and short fillers in a sandwich style.
These medium to full-bodied sticks are smooth and deliver
enjoyable, long-lasting flavor. Be prepared for some sweetness
from the cap.
Born and raised in Cuba, Hamlet Paredes is a name you need to
become quickly acquainted with. Here’s the skinny: originally
working in Habanos S.A. factories rolling Cuban cigars, Hamlet
quickly moved up the ranks. Within years, Hamlet was travelling
internationally, rolling custom shapes and sizes for some
Europe’s top shops, and rolling cigars “free hand” – without
molds or presses.
Today, now that he’s stateside, Hamlet has joined the Rocky Patel
family and crafted high-end blends like Tabaquero, Liberation,
and the cigar at hand today: Puro Cubano. Wrapped in a seamless
Ecuadorian Habano leaf, with a PA Broadleaf binder and choice
Honduran and Nicaraguan long-fillers, Puro Cubano delivers an
effortlessly smooth draw and flawless burn. Flavors of natural
sweetness, slight creamy notes, and a toasty finish meld together
beautifully into a cigar that could only have been crafted by a
true master of tobacco.
Rex Britannia cigars look like mongrels but these 100% natural
handmades are perfect in-betweener knockaround 'gars. Their
questionable looks derive from the fact they're freehand rolled
without using molds. But they’re actually nice little gems made
with quality tobaccos and a slightly sweet tip. Think of this as
your fishing or golf cigar....and at these prices it is almost
impossible to go wrong.
If you’re a cigar fan, Matt Booth is good company to keep. But if
you’re his competition, the man is as cold as Tony Montoya in
pursuit of his green card. Matt’s like a modern-day Midas, every
project he gets his hands on turns into pure gold. Or in this
case, white gold. The Room 101 Miami Snow is the latest in a trio
of limited edition offerings from the brand, and takes the spot
of the mellowest of the three.
AJ Fernandez crafts these beauties in Nicaragua out of a
long-filler blend of choice Habano seed long-filler and binder
leaves, carefully secured by a golden, gleaming Ecuador
Connecticut wrapper leaf. This single-size 6” x 50 toro coats
your palate in classic Connecticut flavors with a touch of extra
spice. Sweet cedar, nuts, and cream are joined by a bit of
pepper, and CI’s low prices will surprise you more than, well,
snow in Miami! Snow at this time of year is bound to not last
long, and so is the case with the Room 101 Miami Snow. Grab a
box, they’ll go quicker than a snowman in the Sahara!
The Sergeant brand was created by Luciano Meirelles, ACE Prime
Cigars’ president and co-founder, to honor the life and times of
his close friend and US Marine Sgt. Brian Acevedo, who was one of
the most selfless persons Luciano has ever known. According to
Meirelles, the Sergeant cigar also honors every military
servicemember who is “... committed to unconditional altruism.”
The cigar is composed of a savory dark Ecuadorian Habano maduro
wrapper with a Connecticut hybrid binder and a Nicaraguan filler.
The Sergeant is expertly handmade at Tabacalera Pichardo in
Nicaragua.
Alright, let's be honest. When this cigar landed on my desk, I
was... less than enthused. I thought maybe the delivery guy
dropped it on his way up the stairs, so I went down to the
warehouse, and, nope. They all look mangled.
BUT — it actually lit up and burnt pretty damn well. I'm not
going to try to convince you this cigar will win any awards. As a
matter of fact, I'd bet my life savings this never receives a
rating. Be that as it may, for 20 bucks, you could do a helluva
lot worse. The flavor is smooth and consistent, delivering an
easy draw and a natural tobacco flavor that is perfect for a
morning commute. If you're looking for a top-shelf
recommendation, move on. If you want something pretty good
that'll only cost you a buck a pop - Uncle Buck's your man.
Excuse my little ode to the great pitcher Rick Vaughn, and let’s
make way for some delicious quick sticks hailing from the same
factory as the revered Aging Room line. Introducing Wilde Cigars,
a mellow mixture of all Dominican tobaccos that work wonders when
you’re crunched for time. These puppies are great for any length
of lunch break, coffee break, or just kickin’ around in the yard.
